yahoo awards

copped a feel of the yahoo awards we won today… they’re kind of cool and pretty big.
the awards were for ‘cowforce.com‘. winner of ‘best website in its category’ and ‘peoples choice’.
still mightily chuffed!

‘UNUSUAL SUSPECTS’… PROOST looking to find young creatives!

jonny baker and i (aka PROOST) are relaunching Proost later this year. one of the things we are looking to put on our new download site is the work of young and unknown creatives, (’UNUSUAL SUSPECTS‘). below is the description of what kind of people we are looking for… if you know anyone who fits the bill, get this information to them.

Are you under 25 years old?

Are you a creative person in need of an outlet?

Proost is looking for unknown creatives to produce work for its new download site.
The new site will produce monthly downloads of creative resources for youth groups,
churches and individuals.

Proost produces 3 types of downloadable resource… AUDIO VISUAL, RECORDED MUSIC and BOOKS.
We are looking for young unknown poets, writers, illustrators, animators, film makers, music producers, fine artists, cartoonists etc. to present us with their ideas for media for our download site. If we like the idea, then you will be asked to make your piece of work. maybe a short film, a set of poems meditations or cartoons, a set of illustrations or music tracks…
The idea/s you present to us will be geared towards helping people in their spiritual journey. They will have an earthy reality to them not a churchy religiousness

If your work is selected to go on the site, you will be paid on a royalty basis.

There will also be a really great prize for the best piece of work produced by an UNUSUAL SUSPECT…

At Greenbelt 2007 Proost will be relaunching its website and we will use the event to promote and
showcase the UNUSUAL SUSPECTS.

ike russ

here is a better view of ‘ike russ’, the character featured in an earlier blog. i promise these movies will be viewable online at some point, but for the moment they are pre-release.

lovers/hipocriticalmass

a simple story of love and faithfulness with equally simple, almost diagramatic character design.
all done in flash.

trip/hipocriticalmass

this character was designed in swift 3d and goes by the corny name of ike russ!
the planets are also swift. the rest is flash and a bit of colouring in after effects.
i’m fascinated by the fact that a character can be so simple (ike doesn’t even have a face!) yet you can care about it. maybe, just the small inclusion of a red heart on his chest tells you all you need to know.

lotte goes lo-fi/hipocritical mass

say hi to lotte. there is also a simple 3d lotte in this movie. i wanted her to be minimally sexy, think betty boop for the third millenium.
this movie was made in flash and after effects.

hyperlethargy/hipocriticalmass

created using swift 3d, poser and flash. the composites were made in after effects.

get out of london/hipocriticalmass

this animation is called ‘get out of london’. this is the first time i used after effects, an old version.
i filmed my mate luke running around, turned him into stills, imported the stills to flash, cropped the backgrounds and added new ones in flash, imported the whole lot within after effects where other ambiences, textures and effects were added.

icarus/hipocriticalmass

meet ‘icarus’, a character designed and simply constructed in swift3d.
this short movie was made before i started using after effects. alot of work went into
bringing the animated bits together in flash.
my friend luke and i have a chilled out breakbeat/dub outfit called ‘hipocritical mass’ and this is one of our live a/v movies.
all the movies that go with our tracks will be viewable online quite soon, but in the meantime the next bunch of posts will show stills from some of hipmass’s movies.

proost movies 2

frames from a new animation called ‘garbage’. this one’s about the state of the planet. it will be available for download from PROOST later this year.
it was made using swift3d and the vectors created there were then exported to flash. the colour palette is restricted to orange and shades of black and grey and the objects have been reduced to basic shapes.
i wrote a poem for this one to go with the hum of background fx… that was fun.
